New English Ballet Theatre has invited LBC members to attend the rehearsal of a new work by Valentino Zucchetti.
Apollo e Dafne is the opening ballet in NEBT’s Spring programme which combines Baroque music, Greek mythology and contemporary choreography. It explores the Greek myth of Apollo - the god of arts and music - and the nymph Daphne. Apollo's quest for love, his battles with choice and anguish, and his acceptance of fate are brought vividly to life through drama and dance.
The completed work will be part of a mixed bill with choreography by Matthew Ball, Marika Brussel, Jenna Lee. Zucchetti’s work will also feature in this year’s London Handel Festival.
DATE: Monday 24th February 2025
TIME: 6:30- 8.30pm
VENUE: Royal Opera House, Bow Street London WC2E 9DD
Zucchetti’s work will be seen as part of this year’s London Handel Festival in Tales of Apollo and Hercules: a brand-new and original Handelian double bill, March 27-28, Shoreditch Town Hall.
From the LHF brochure:
‘Tales of Apollo and Hercules will explore the lives of two tragic and divine half-brothers and recount their quest for love, their battles with choice and anguish, and their acceptance of fate. Much-acclaimed director Thomas Guthrie joins rising-star choreographer Valentino
Zucchetti to create a spellbinding evening of mythical and fantastical storytelling through
drama and dance. LHF favourites La Nuova Musica, and their conductor David Bates, join a cast of acclaimed soloists for this original Handel production. Tales of Apollo and
Hercules promises to be one of the most original Handel events of 2025 and is expected to sell out, so tickets should be booked early.’
