We are delighted to have received an invitation from Cassa Pancho, Director of Ballet Black inviting LBC members (10 places) to watch a rehearsal for Mthuthuzeli November’s new ballet about Nina Simone entitled Nina: By Whatever Means
The rehearsal is on Wednesday 22 February 2023, arrival time 11:45am, ending 2pm.

It is a 5 minute walk from Marylebone tube and train station.
As there are only 10 places available, we do anticipate this rehearsal visit being sold out. Once it is sold out, please email [email protected] if you would like to be added to a waiting list. This list will most likely kick-in with very short notice, if attendees cannot join due to illness for instance.
The Director says “please do not attend if you have a cold or cough.” This will be a necessary courtesy these days, but particularly to avoid disruption to this small dance troupe ahead of their imminent performances.
The premiere of the Nina Simone ballet is part of the Ballet Black: Pioneers double bill at the Barbican 8-12 March 2023, which tours the UK thereafter. The second ballet on the bill, is Will Tuckett’s THEN OR NOW, originally created in 2020.

We received the following change from Ballet Black late in the evening of Tuesday 21st February:
Due to a dancer illness, our schedule has changed and we will now be rehearsing Will Tuckett’s Then Or Now first. We may get to Nina, but it depends on how the first ballet goes.
Perhaps you could let your LBC members know in case they prefer not to attend.
