We are delighted to be invited to watch Acosta Danza rehearse repertoire from Cuban Baroque a double bill currently on tour. The work consists of:
Part 1 – Pearls: A world-premiere piece choreographed by Andonis Foniadakis, set to Esteban Salas' (Sallas') Salve Regina. It uses a looping chaconne structure that shifts from Baroque lyricism to Cuban drive. [1, 2, 3]
Part 2 – Chacona: Choreographed by Goyo Montero and performed by a 16-dancer ensemble. It is set to the final movement of J.S. Bach's Partita No. 2 in D Minor for violin, arranged live with guitar and piano
