Born in Seoul, South Korea, Sangeun Lee trained at the Sunhwa Arts School. Lee was a
soloist with the Universal Ballet before joining the Semperoper Ballett in 2010. Lee was promoted to Principal Dancer in 2015.

She joined English National Ballet as Lead Principal Dancer in 2023 boasting expansive
classical and neo-classical repertoire having worked with the likes of David Dawson, William Forsythe, Malou Airaudo, Alexander Ekman and Derek Deane. 

She featured in the documentary film Dancing Pina whereby her work preparing for what became her favourite role Iphigenie in Iphigenie auf Tauris by Pina Bausch can be followed. 

Lee has had created roles as Doña Dulcinea in Don Quixote by Aaron S Watkin, The Four Seasons and Four Last Songs David Dawson, COW by Alexander Ekman and Corpse de Ballet by Hofesh Shechter.
