From Cuba, Javier is considered one of the best Cuban dancers of his generation, a driven artist with a knack for dance and its business.

He graduated from the National Ballet School of Cuba in Havana with honours in 2000 into the National Ballet Company where he was promoted to principal in 2004, and to premier dancer in 2009.  He joined Northern Ballet in the UK as a principal dancer in 2010.  His final performance with Northern Ballet was in the title role of Casanova at Sadler’s Wells in May 2022.

Javier is now Managing Director of the Acosta Dance Centre which opened in September 2023 in Woolwich.  He is also Managing Director of the Acosta Dance Foundation which encompasses the Acosta Dance Centre in London, the Acosta Danza Company and the Acosta Danza Academy in Cuba.

He is a Vice-Chair with Serendipity-UK, a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and a member of the International Dance Council (CID-UNESCO).

He holds a BA Hons in Business Management and Leadership Practices and a Master in Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Cumbria. He is a graduate of the Clore Leadership Programme for Emerging Leaders in 2019.
