Grad Pro is a unique annual performance opportunity for Vocational Dance Graduates, who have either already completed 3 years of vocational training, or are due to graduate in 2024.

Four events are held regionally in Edinburgh, London, Birmingham and Leeds.  Dancers selected from these regionals go on to participate in the final International Showcase Performance attended by directors of ballet companies. The 2024 final is on Sunday 19 May, in Birmingham.

The regional events feature a classical ballet class and a performance of a solo or duet choreographed by the candidates.  At the finals, a set repertoire piece with prior coaching is added to the programme of each candidate.

From organiser Julie Bowers:

The Grad Pro London regional event is one of four performance opportunities around the UK where the Vocational Graduate begin their Grad Pro story.  Each candidate is required to take part in a preset classical class and to also perform their own choreography which must be an original piece.

The proceedings will begin with a classical class to be led by Darren Parish and accompanied on the piano by Ross Alley. After the class, the candidates will perform their choreographed solos one by one.

The event will also be watched by three esteemed judges, Brenda Last OBE, Stephen Wicks and Isabella Gasparini who will make their decision at the end to take a number of candidates through to the Grad Pro final in May.
