London Children’s Ballet have invited members to observe a rehearsal of their forthcoming show - Anne of Green Gables at their studios in Battersea

From Thursday 2 - Sunday 5 July 2026 London Children's Ballet presents a revival of its hugely popular narrative ballet Anne of Green Gables. A well known Canadian story, written in 1908 by Lucy Maud Montgomery, audiences love this charming story of a lively, imaginative 11 year old orphan who lives on Canada's Prince Edward Island.Adopted by an elderly brother and sister, Anne gets herself into endless scrapes but eventually wins over the community with her endearing, fearless character and passionate nature. With a cast of 54 talented young dancers aged 9 - 16 this classic children's story is brought to life after months of rehearsals.

Ballet for a £1 - There is an additional opportunity for up to 8 members to attend the ‘Ballet for £1’ performance at The Peacock Theatre on 2 July (daytime). Before their opening night ‘gala’ performance, the company runs a full (matinee) dress rehearsal where they offer tickets for £1 to the schools in which they run their outreach programmes. The children generally have never visited a theatre before. This is their first opportunity to step into a space like this, for the lights to go down and to experience the magic of theatre - and a live orchestra. Similar to the RBO’s schools programme, there is a lot of excitement, I believe a bit of screaming with excitement when the lights go down and then complete absorption as the performance starts. The seats available are 2 x 4 seat boxes. The view of the stage is ‘a little less than ideal’, but it is a great position from which to experience the atmosphere and to truly understand the value of the outreach programmes.
