New English Ballet Theatre

October 19th

LBC members were invited to watch class and a rehearsal at the Dance Attic Studios in Fulham. New English Ballet Theatre is celebrating its 15th anniversary which is a remarkable achievement in this current financial climate. Founded by Artistic Director Karen Pilkington-Miksa MBE as a creative platform for emerging dancers and choreographers, NEBT has evolved into a company dedicated to developing choreographers and presenting new work to a wide audience. The Company of 16 dancers performs throughout the UK at venues ranging from hospitals to the Royal Opera House and is frequently invited to tour abroad.

Our morning began by watching a demanding but inspiring class led by Damani Williams, a former graduate from Elmhurst Ballet School. Karen then introduced Jordan James Bridge, company rehearsal director and himself a choreographer, who led the dancers through excerpts from their upcoming Christmas production of the ever-popular The Nutcracker. First seen in 2025 this critically acclaimed work with choreography by Valentino Zucchetti brings a fresh look to this seasonal classic. Successfully navigating the rather dodgy flooring, dancers were rehearsed through excerpts from Act II with the Grand Pas de Deux, the Snow Scene and two of the divertissements - the Hat (Russian Dance) and Champagne (Dance of the Mirlitons). Dancers share the roles and all are expected to dance at every performance.

Following a UK tour, The Nutcracker will be performed from December 11-19 at LAMDA, 155 Talgarth Road, Hammersmith, which stands on the site of the former home of The Royal Ballet School.

LBC have also been invited to NEBT’s Nutcracker Christmas Party to celebrate their 15th Anniversary at Sinfonia Smith Square, SW1 on December 3rd. For tickets contact [email protected]
