A warm welcome from Artistic Director Viviana Durante was followed by a truly delightful afternoon of dance.  The students of The English National Ballet School treated the members of The London Ballet Circle to a rehearsal of the 2022 Winter Showcase.  After two years of Covid restrictions, it was a particularly special event.

The programme consisted of 12 pieces, and each of the three years was well represented in contemporary, classical and character dances.  The programme:

1st year character

3rd year solo, Diana and Acteon

2nd year contemporary

1st year Giselle Peasant men duet

1st Year Giselle Peasant women duet/trio

3rd year Swan Lake Act 2 Swans

1st year Contemporary

2nd year Swan Lake Act 1 Waltz

3rd year Swan Lake Pas de trois

1st year Swan Lake Polonaise

2nd year solo

3rd year contemporary

The contemporary and 2nd year solo works were choreographed by members of the ENBS staff.  A mixture of live piano and recorded music accompanied the pieces.  Having the dancers in costume added to the professionalism of the rehearsal.

The joy and confidence displayed by the students and the excellent dancing are a testament to their passion and training.  The audience expressed their thanks with an enthusiastic round of applause.  It is hoped that there will be another visit to ENBS in late spring to see the students once again before the 2022/23 school year ends.
