Top: Sophie Le Bellec (PA to Mark Osterfield) with Jo Bedingfield
Central School of Ballet
December 1st 2025
On Dec 1st a group of fortunate LBC members received a warm welcome from Jo Bedingfield, Development Manager and Mark Osterfield, Executive Director at the Central School of Ballet near Waterloo. Housed in the state-of-the-art Countess of Wessex studios, the school offers vocational degree courses in dance at undergraduate level and a Masters degree in choreography. 3rd year students form the Ballet Central touring company giving graduating students the opportunity of professional performing experience.
Leading a Year 1 class of 15 female students was Yolandi Moreira. A 30-minute warm up was followed by a rehearsal of a group piece set to music from Coppélia due for performance at their Winter Showcase in the school’s Gable Studio Theatre next week. We all know that ballet training is tough, but the physical exertion required for this demanding piece was very evident! Having mastered the steps however, Yolandi encouraged the students to ‘perform’ which they certainly did with lively accompaniment on the piano by Grant Horley.
We will look forward to a return visit next year.
