On Tuesday the 18th of October, the LBC paid its second visit to the studios at The Royal Academy of Dance where New English Ballet Theatre is hard at work preparing for their upcoming programme, Cycles of Loss and Love.

Before the rehearsal began, highly respected teacher Raymond Chai, put the led the company in a very enjoyable, but tough, class.  Pianist Tony Riccio improvised with panache on the piano and while the dancers went through their paces, the LBC members tapped their toes!

Following class, Choreographer Wayne Eagling and Ballet Master Chris Wright worked with the dancers on a section of Remembrance.  Wayne created this ballet for NEBT in 2018 to mark 100th anniversary of the end of the First World War.  It’s a very moving ballet about Marie Rambert and Ashley Dukes.  When watching the rehearsal, it was obvious that this is a ballet that is timeless and will be danced for many years to come. Although the entire work won’t be performed as part of the programme on November 10th and 11th, it will be well worth buying a ticket!

Thanks to Karen Pilkington and everyone at New English Ballet Theatre for giving us this wonderful opportunity to go behind the scenes and see how much time and effort goes into every step and nuance of a ballet.
