The 2024 National Dance Awards were held at The Coronet Theatre on June 3rd.  A total of 311 recommendations were made by up to 60 dance critics for the qualifying period of 1stJanuary  2023 and 31st December 2023.  That number was whittled down to 78 nominees covering a wide range of categories and 16 winners were chosen.  What difficult choices these critics face.

London Ballet Circle proudly sponsored the Outstanding Male Classical Performance and the nominees were outstanding indeed:  Gareth Haw in Four Last Songs by English National Ballet – Ryoichi Hirano as Espada in Don Quixote by The Royal Ballet – Brandon Lawrence in Liebestod by Birmingham Royal Ballet – Sooraj Subramaniam in The Rite of Spring by Seeta Patel Dance – Joseph Taylor as Gatsby in The Great Gatsby by Northern Ballet.  The award was presented to Brandon Lawrence who had flown in from Zurich, where he now dances.

Three members of LBC, who were chosen in a random draw, accompanied the Chair Susan Dalgetty Ezra, to the ceremony and were delighted to applaud, not only Brandon, but all the winners.
