LONODN CHILDREN’S BALLET

JUNE 21st, 2026

On a very hot Sunday afternoon, the last place one would think of going would be a storage facility in Battersea but a group of eager London Ballet Circle members did just that.  The reason?  To watch a rehearsal of the London Children’s Ballet upcoming production of Anne of Green Gables.

Thankfully the studio was airconditioned but that did nothing to cool the excitement, the professionalism or the pure joy of performing which each of the young dancers exhibited.  Led by choreographer Jenna Lee and her team, we watched the children, ranging in age from 7-16 rehearsing for nearly three hours.  We saw run throughs of several scenes of this two-act ballet and, even though they were out of order, the story telling was clear and the characterisations came through brilliantly.  It was obvious that a lot of rehearsal time has been spent on acting and corps work as well as learning the steps.  Also impressive was the partnering work displayed.  Remembering that these are young teenagers, they executed the lifts with assured confidence.   It’s very likely that some of the future stars of the ballet world are in this production.

Anne of Green Gables will be at The Peacock Theatre from July 2-5 and based on what we saw at the rehearsal, it’s not to be missed!
