As is usual at this time of year, the LBC Trustees have approved a raft of awards which enable student dancers to attend intensive courses when they would not otherwise have the opportunity or to reward student achievement while training. These donations are as follows:

Yorkshire Ballet Summer Seminars: £1300 to cover two scholarships decided by the Director

The Stanley Hawkins Award at the Ballet Cymru Summer School: £500 to be spent at the provider’s discretion

The Sir Peter Wright Prize for an Elmhurst Ballet School Student selected by the School: £500

The LBC’s Dame Ninette de Valois Awards for the male and female outstanding graduates of The Royal Ballet School: £500 x 2, of which £250 x 2 is generously donated to the LBC anonymously for this specific purpose.

Other donations:

- Following the LBC’s visit to the On Point exhibition at the V&A, a donation of £200 is being given to The Royal Academy of Dance;

- In the light of the help afforded the LBC by the dance writer Graham Watts, especially in connection with the 75th Anniversary Celebration on Zoom, £500 is being donated to Watts Dance, a venture run by his daughter Cecilia, to assist its recovery after the pandemic;

- bbodance’s gradpro initiative has also been given £500. This project is designed to give 2020, 2021 and 2022 dance graduates the opportunity to perform with the possibility of being seen by leading dance company Directors.
