Volunteering with the LBC: What’s in it for you?
[A message from Jo Blake, Membership Secretary]
The LBC has a number of areas where we currently need more help in order to keep LBC going strong, and to be able to continue to offer a good programme of activities whilst raising the funds that we need to assist young dancers. These include taking fees on the door before talks and taking a lead on fund raising.
The Trustees have been working hard to make sure we are up to date and compliant with all the requirements of being a registered Charity and the remodelling of our website is also an important step forward as it includes the facility to join and renew online.
So there is a lot happening and it is therefore a very good time to consider if you might be able to volunteer with us.
A recent seminar run by “Women on Boards” made the point that, if women volunteer as charity trustees, this can be a useful method of preparation for paid positions as non-executive directors on company boards. It is also possible to also new skills and experience that broaden horizons and look attractive on a CV. The LBC needs men to get involved too!
Of course being a volunteer with LBC is not just about enhancing career prospects - we hope it will be fun as well, with a chance to make new friends and become much more closely involved in the world of ballet.
Please feel free to have a chat with any of the Trustees if you would like to know more.
